Backend & AI Engineer

I design and run the systems behind AI products in production — agents, multi-tenant serverless, and the infrastructure underneath.

Selected work

Four systems, and the problem each one had to solve.

A conversational AI platform, end to end

au2.bot · 2023 — now · In production

Three paid SaaS dependencies taken out of the critical path and replaced with services we own — and an AI layer that went from function calling to multi-model agent graphs.

Warehouse management for port and bulk cargo

2022 — 2023 · In production

Every truck is weighed at the port and again at the warehouse, shrinkage reconciled kilo by kilo, dispatch tracked against the bill of lading. The difference between the two weighings is the product.

The cheapest-fare calendar

Viva · 2021 — 2022 · Shipped, since retired

A ±1-month price calendar on vivaair.com where every cell is a live asynchronous query against the Amadeus Navitaire API, with per-country tax rules and three-way currency conversion.

SAMP — research software that people actually use

GRUSLIN · UNAD · 2023 — now · In production at UNAD

A monitoring and accreditation platform for a university research group, with a module for awards and participation badges. Backend built end to end, plus the foundations of the frontend.

Beyond the job

Teaching at UNAD, supercomputing with SIGHPC/ACM, and the GRUSLIN research group.

Teaching

UNAD, Colombia's national open university — I teach the official support sessions for its engineering programme: Python, FastAPI, AI and agent development, architecture and server fundamentals, to cohorts of 300–500 students. Before any of it was institutional there was Go All The Way, a community run with Emmanuel Palacio.

High-performance computing

SC is the international supercomputing conference. Attended SC24 virtually, then SC25 in St. Louis on the SIGHPC/ACM Immersion Program as one of around twenty undergraduates selected worldwide — supervised access to a supercomputer, labs, mentoring and site visits. Accepted as a Student Volunteer for SC26 in Chicago.

Research

GRUSLIN, UNAD's free-software research group. SAMP and PythonLab are both in production at the university, and both started inside the group rather than as coursework.
